Wedding Trends: The Winter Bride

As the 2014 trends are rolling in, one is surely making a chilly statement; the winter wonderland wedding. As seen on David Tutera’s “Unveiled” and wedding couture magazine, “Brides,” I am also placing the Winter Bride towards the top of the list for 2014 wedding trends.

There are several new and vintage trends for the winter wonderland wedding, the first new trend being the venue style. Winter brides want to bring the beautiful snowy and frozen lake views indoors with large window settings and heated patios. They are bringing the winter indoors without the cold weather. Some great wedding venues here in Indianapolis for these panoramic views are the Montage, Eiteljorg, Indiana State Museum, and the Indianapolis Museum of Art.

Several of the 2014 fashion trends are rolling over into the winter wedding. Feathers are being used in veils, dresses, center pieces, bouquets, shoes, and more. Don’t fear showing your unique and colorful side by using colored or patterned feathers in your wedding designs. In this particular wedding, red feathers brought out the holiday cheer and some pop to this snowy white background. Capes are becoming a huge 2014 vintage trend for spring and winter weddings. Use a heavier cape such as fur or feather to keep warm and still show off your beautiful wedding gown.

Don’t let the snow of December fool you. You can have your winter wonderland wedding in a non-holiday month too. Continue to use the natural beauty of the snow covered outdoors as your backdrop, but become creative with your wedding design by using a natural woodland look or pulling in the dramatic couture by drenching your space with up-lighting and floral designs for the winter ice wedding.
