How Many Staff Will Be Used for My Event?

Service is a central element of any event experience. The number and quality of staff is key in keeping guests happy and your event running smoothly. Set up must go efficiently, glasses should be filled, food delivered quickly, and transitions seamless – allowing you and your guests the opportunity to focus on enjoying the moment.

As you shop for a caterer for your Indianapolis event, have you considered the level of service you expect?

Standard staffing ratios and the level of service you expect for your event are directly related. Do you want guests waiting in a long line at a bar or plates piling up on tables because there aren’t enough servers to clear? Undoubtedly, the answer is no. Even seasoned event professionals may not translate abstract staffing ratios into real time service levels – and it’s too late to change once the event is in process.

Unlike other caterers in Indianapolis, Kahn’s Catering employs the largest service staff in the city backed by years of event experience and holds itself to the highest hospitality standards. We do not use temporary staffing for our events as a way to ensure that each server that represents our company does so according to our expectations. Delivering upon the Kahn’s Catering Difference is what our clients have come to expect from us and is one of the most important promises we make and uphold.

Part of that difference is our ability to provide the highest server to guest staffing ratios among Indianapolis caterers. We guarantee that each event will be properly staffed to ensure prompt and positively memorable service by providing the following server to guest ratios:

  • 1 :15 for plated and passed hors d’oeuvre parties,
  • 1:20 for buffet and station parties
  • 1:75 bartenders

In addition to a trained and ServSafe certified serving team, each event is managed by a designated operations team who is accountable for all of the day-of action for your event. While some caterers feel that a set of servers or one on-site manager is adequate for an event, people in these positions don’t keep track of time lines or coordinate with the venue and vendors. They focus entirely on food service leaving you with the responsibility of managing your own event instead of enjoying it.

Take comfort in knowing that an event with Kahn’s Catering is overseen by a

  • setup manager
  • operations manager and/or event specialist
  • venue manager
  • executive chef or executive sous chef
  • event captain

Each person has their own set of responsibilities that lead to a smooth transition between planning and execution. They work behind the scenes at your event to be sure that everything is done to your specifications. No matter the size or location of your event, the 24% all-inclusive service charge ensures that you will have the best and most appropriately sized event management team available for a successful occasion.
