Savory and Sweets in High Style – It’s Tea Time!

Now is your chance to enjoy the re-creation of the L.S. Ayres Tea Room at the Indiana State Museum. Kahn’s Catering is excited to share with you our second season in the L.S. Ayres Tea Room, and the opportunity to experience the many fond memories of the original Tea Room guests.

Enjoy your favorites, such as the Chicken Velvet Soup, Chicken Pot Pie, Pecan Ball or the Clown Cone. Guests can also delight in a formal tea-style experience, complete with finger sandwiches and petite pastries.  In addition to the signature dishes we’ve all come to adore from the Tea Room, there is a tasty selection of light entrees, sandwiches and salads to choose from. View the complete menu here.

First opening in downtown Indianapolis in 1905, the tea room at the L.S. Ayres Department Store was an endearing favorite for several generations. The Indiana State Museum’s re-creation of the store’s tea room features reproductions of wall coverings, carpet, draperies and chandeliers as well as original furniture from the restaurant. Original artifacts such as tea pots and silverware, as well as past photographs of the tea room, are currently on display.

The Tea Room is available by walk-in or reservation, daily, from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. during the run of the Celebration Crossing. Nov. 28 through Dec. 31; closed Christmas Day.
