Robyn + Mel’s Garden Party Wedding at IMA

Gorgeous weddings like this leave us speechless. When a couple envisions an intimate garden ceremony and reception, Garden Terrace is one of the first venues that comes to mind. This historic structure at the Indianapolis Museum of Art is a 1940’s jewel, originally used as a recreation facility for J.K. Lilly Jr. and his family. Today, it serves as a special events venues on the museum’s campus. Robyn and Mel’s late May wedding wouldn’t have been the same anywhere else.

Much like this couple, the ceremony and reception were laid back affairs, but beautiful nonetheless. When Robyn shared her vision for a garden wedding with us, it was easy to visualize farm tables lining the room with ivory and greenery placed on ivory table runners. Each place setting was fit with a menu, ivory napkin, and mahogany chiavari chair to match the tables. This look was incredibly romantic.

During dinner, live music was played in a corner of the room. Robyn and Mel joined together to cut their cake, with two different flavors, and celebrated with toasts. After sharing a dance together, the bride and groom took a spin on the dance floor with their parents for a special dance. The couple joined guests to celebrate in dancing throughout the rest of the evening before bidding everyone goodnight.
