A Brunch of Love at IMA

Summer days and Sunday bunch, two of life’s beautiful simplistic delights. It’s even better when they are combined into a one-of-a-kind outdoor daytime wedding at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Denise and Phil celebrated their love with their closest friends and family just outside Garden Terrace with an intimate ceremony surrounding the fountain and a relaxed brunch reception complete with mimosas and bellinis.

Guests began arriving about a half hour before the ceremony began, accompanied by the sounds of Cocktail Sax, a live quartet. Denise and Phil’s ceremony began at 10:30am surrounding the fountain in front of Garden Terrace. Once the ceremony began, our team quietly moved the escort card table into position for the wedding certificate signing directly following the ceremony prior to cocktail hour to be signed by all guests in attendance as a form of a guest book. The bride and groom escaped to take photos while their guests enjoyed champagne, mimosas, bellinis and passed hors d’oeuvres. Other beverages were also available including Nantucket juices and local Sunking beer.

We wish we could show you all of the photos from Denise and Phil’s time wandering the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. The grounds are stunning and the perfect backdrop for wedding photos regardless of the style of wedding or reception you choose to have. With lush greenery, varied architecture, artwork and the peaceful serenity of the space, it’s easy for couples to relax, smile, laugh and love one another as their photographer captures it all.

The sounds of Cocktail Sax continued throughout cocktail hour and played quietly as the reception continued . This garden party style brunch wedding was picturesque and perfectly set against the backdrop of Garden Terrace. Ivory linens covered round tables circled by mahagony chiavari chairs. Each centerpiece held delicate white and green floral in a variety of vases, all encompassed by rattan chargers to further bring forth the earthly garden atmosphere.

Husband and wife were introduced and they cut their cake at the start of brunch, enjoying the reception for their private sweetheart table. Denise and Phil shared their first dance together, with the groom, quite literally, sweeping her off her feet. It was, by far, one of the sweetest first dance moves we have seen this year.

To end the reception, guests were invited to tour the IMA gardens lead by an IMA docent. The tour gives an in-depth look at the Oldsfield gardens, displaying plantings both common and rare. Guests enjoyed time in the shade, laughing together and loving each others company.
